Machine Learning for Kids

I was very pleased to support, try out, and test the project 'Machine Learning for Kids.' It is a unique guide in our market to the basics of artificial intelligence and machine learning for children aged 12 and playful adults. It is not just dry theory; it includes more than a dozen interesting projects, such as image and text classification, smart assistants, chatbots, tic-tac-toe, and more. Something like this has been missing here for a long time, and I believe it can serve as a gateway for many children into the fascinating world of AI. I greatly appreciate the playful format and the opportunity to experiment and touch everything. Hats off for the chapter on bias and ethics!

For the technically inclined, it is a black-box combination of three applications: Watson Assistant-lite, Scratch, and the new MachineLearningForKids interface. It took me about 20 minutes to register everywhere and connect it all. The translation into Czech is good. Some terms could be debated (e.g., recall; completeness/precision), but overall it is excellent, and the reader will also find original terms in the book. I would also suggest including examples of generative algorithms (text, images) so that children do not only learn about the prehistoric era of AI, and for the curious, I would outline the white box — so that children have a basic understanding of how AI works. I have also found it effective to organise project competitions for children, wrapping everything into a story, etc.

Overall, an amazing project, and I wish you the best in spreading and continuing it!
