Today, my article is published in trend.sk magazine titled “The EU is currently outpacing the United States and China in the field of artificial intelligence. Excessive regulation may complicate this.”
In the article, I focus on the implications of the new European AI regulation, which is the first of its kind in the world to govern the use of artificial intelligence. On one hand, I welcome Europe’s emphasis on ethics, but on the other hand, I express concerns about competitiveness compared to the USA and China.
I discuss how regulations can be beneficial, but also the danger that excessive strictness may hinder innovation, particularly in education, where AI can significantly contribute to the personalisation of learning, which is deemed highly risky according to the regulations.
I hope the article will spark a discussion about the future of AI in Europe.
