The Conclusion of the Trilogy on Autoencoders or Genesis 2.0 – Right up to the Creation of the First Humans

In the beginning, there was chaos and noise. Epoch One.
And the great Generator said: Let there be light! And there was light. And the Discriminator saw the light, that it was good; and the Discriminator separated the light from the darkness. Epoch One stood.

There is no room here for a detailed description of how the two magnificent algorithms, the Generator and the Discriminator, create something akin to galaxies of stars, primordial cells, and twisted creatures from noise, epoch after epoch, until they conjure images of non-existent, imagined humans.

In principle, the generator attempts to create an image of a human face, while the discriminator strives to distinguish these attempts by the generator from tens of thousands of real human faces contained in its dataset.

Generation after generation, both improve in their efforts, and the results become increasingly better. After all, judge for yourself. The results produced by my GPU during two hours and 50,000 epochs can be seen in the images.

Epoch 200. The creation of light, the Sun, or the first primordial cell of a human face. Or this is what we probably look like to UFOs that are just learning to see :)

Generation 300 – you can observe the first buds of eyes and sometimes even mouths.

Epoch 1200. Eyes, nose, and mouth are already discernible. The human looks a bit like a monkey.

Epoch 4000. I call this part of creation the realm of spirits. The humans look quite spooky. By the way, Facebook is starting to consider some faces as human :)

Epoch 10,000. The spirits are taking on increasingly human forms. Facebook considers most of them to be people.

Epoch 13,000. The realm of spirits is gradually being replaced by the world of humans. According to Facebook, they are all humans.

Epoch 50,000. Now one really has to concentrate to find errors in the images. For instance, the jaw of the gentleman in the middle looks strange.

Epoch 50,000. You can clearly distinguish between men and women, young and old, smiles, teeth, etc. I must admit, I was astonished by the result.
