In the July issue of Nature, you will read about how scientists from the American Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory used a simple Word2Vec algorithm to analyse a large number of scientific papers on thermoelectric materials.
The algorithm processed 3.3 million abstracts and provided a series of suggestions for future materials that can be used for heating or cooling.
“This algorithm learns on its own and connects things by itself. It could be used for research in medicine and the potential discovery of new drugs. There is so much information that we sometimes struggle to process it correctly, and that’s where the algorithm can help,” says Vahe Tshitoyan, a researcher on the project.
