The First Advertisement in the World Written by Artificial Intelligence is for Lexus

Robots can manufacture cars, but are they capable of creative thinking? According to a new advertisement for the Lexus ES, it seems they are. Although it was directed by a human, the core structure and ideas of the script were created by Watson, IBM's artificial intelligence.

Japanese artificial intelligence is writing advertising scripts. The first such advertisement is for the Lexus ES and it is not entirely digital – it features real people and was also directed by an Oscar-winning director, Kevin Macdonald.

However, the script was outlined by artificial intelligence, specifically IBM's Watson system. It scanned successful advertisements for luxury cars over the past fifteen years and identified several common points, from which it created the foundational structure of the script.
