An interesting programme, I definitely recommend watching it. I liked how the guests complemented each other. One was more humanitarian and artistic, while the other was more precise and had deep knowledge of machine learning. Some statements in the programme, such as: “In artistic literature, we are at a similar stage as the Dadaists at the beginning of the 20th century; instead of a needle and a dictionary, we use a computer,” truly surprise me.
Even in my early experiments, university students were unable to determine which works were written by humans and which by AI. I am currently preparing a series of generated short stories for Czech Radio across various genres, and the computer's imagination can at least be compared to that of a human. In the generated sci-fi stories, I noticed that each tale is generated in a different style.
One has very short sentences, a smaller vocabulary, but in that simplicity lies the strength of a budding author. In another story, the digital writer employs complex sentences rich in intricate grammar, florid clauses, and their vocabulary is at the level of a professional writer. Together with my team, I am brainstorming AI ideas for horror stories, and it is incredibly challenging to select the best ones, as it has an exceptionally wide range. It even ventures into very sensitive topics that we might hesitate to release to the public.
Speaking of what experts claim is currently impossible, during the AIAWARD presentation, Petr Šmíd asserts: “The time when we will be able to ponder over the thoughts of Plato with machines is indeed still far off.” However, in the same year, we debated with a half-dozen digital philosophers alongside students.
To summarise – AI is developing much faster in certain aspects than many experts believe.
