A Set of Seven Ethical Principles That Google Commits to Uphold in the Development of Artificial Intelligence

In early June 2018, Google CEO Sundar Pichai published a set of seven principles that Google commits to uphold in the development of artificial intelligence. These include, for instance, a prohibition on the use of AI for the creation of weapons, illegal surveillance devices, and technologies that cause "general harm."

1. Be socially beneficial.
2. Avoid creating or reinforcing bias.
3. Build on safety.
4. Be accountable to users.
5. Incorporate privacy principles.
6. Maintain a high scientific standard.
7. Create in accordance with Google's principles.
