Aftermath of the Broadcast on Prima: How AI is Changing Our Daily Lives Today I was at CNN Prima NEWS, where we discussed a topic that no longer concerns just technology enthusiasts, but practically all of us: what are Czechs really using artificial intelligence for today? The era when AI was merely a "toy for techies" is over. Data reveals several interesting shifts:

🔹 AI is no longer just a work tool
While previously work-related usage dominated, today approximately 70% of queries revolve around personal topics – household, planning, education, recipes, or everyday decision-making. Work-related use remains important, but it is no longer dominant.

🔹 Change in user demographics
Women now make up about 52% of AI users. They often use it very pragmatically – as a tool for organising time, family, and daily responsibilities. This marks a significant shift from the previously tech-oriented audience.

🔹 Energy consumption: reality vs. myths
After the broadcast, questions often arise regarding the ecological footprint of AI. For standard text queries (e.g., recipes, advice, summaries), energy consumption is very low, on the order of tenths of a watt-hour, comparable to traditional searching. Higher consumption is primarily related to specialised tasks (long analyses, coding, multimodal generation), not regular chatting. ☕ For perspective: One typical query corresponds to roughly the energy used when you turn on a kettle for a fraction of a second. Economically and ecologically, this is a negligible unit; differences only emerge on a large scale.

In summary: AI has become an everyday assistant, not just a work tool, but a practical partner for daily life. And with sensible use, it poses neither a financial nor an ecological threat.
