I was just on CNN Prima NEWS, where we discussed a topic that concerns us all — what exactly are Czechs actually using artificial intelligence for today?

You might be surprised, but the time when it was just a "toy for techies" is over. The data speaks clearly:

🏠 We no longer work with it; we live with it.

While work used to dominate, today 70% of queries are personal. People are managing their households, planning trips, or searching for recipes. Work now constitutes only a smaller part of conversations.

⚖️ Women have taken the initiative.

An interesting shift has occurred in demographics. Women now make up 52% of users and are using AI very practically — as an efficient assistant for everyday family and time management.

⚡ And what about energy consumption?

Aside from trends, I often receive questions about ecology and electricity consumption after broadcasts. What’s the reality?

The reality is much more favourable than is commonly believed:

1️⃣ Typical query (ChatGPT 5.2 / 4o): If you’re asking for a recipe or advice, the consumption is minimal (about 0.34 Wh). This is energetically comparable to searching on Google.

2️⃣ Complex tasks: Only specialised models have higher consumption (up to 30 Wh) when you request complex coding or strategy. They are not engaged for regular chats.

☕ For perspective: One of your queries consumes as much energy as if you had turned on a kettle for half a second. You definitely wouldn’t have boiled water for coffee at that cost (around 0.17 haléře).

In summary: AI today is mainly a partner for life that won’t ruin your wallet or the planet.
